Hard Day

Image
It's never an easy day when you get the call that there's a little one that won't be going home and the family needs you. I pack up my gear and head out just keeping the mission in mind. Once there, the photo sessions are allways different and never easy. I just stay on task and disconnect from the situation in front of me.  The really hard part is when I get back home and take a look at the photos for the first time, then it hits like a ton of bricks every time. This is probably one of the hardest things I've ever done but sure does feel good to be there for parents when they are at their lowest. My condolences to the family, I hope I am able to help you heal and always remember your little one.

Taken with the OM5+12-45mm, strait off of camera, Dramatic Tone I. Love the cool transition from black and white to warm but muted colors.

Looking for a new social platform

Image
In 2025, as with the start of every new year, I struggle to find where to spend my time and share my content. Standard social media platforms feel like a void, you post something, it glances by a few eyes as it dives deep into the black hole of time only to be randomly spotted 3 weeks later as it pops up on someone's feed, late and unseen. For the past 2 years I've hosted my own blog, it's been a fine space although complicated and temperamental, it was home and I enjoyed sharing my content for the few passerbys to enjoy. This year looking for something different and perhaps a little less maintenance for me, I've sought out to find a new place to call home for 2025. Current front runners are: Flickr, an old platform but when I've trusted for years, it has its limits especially now that it's a paid service. Foto, you new an upcoming social media platform focus primarily on photos, it feels like quite a few photographers are using it but rarely anyone outside of o...

Is That Another New Camera

Image
…yes doggo, in my endless search for the perfect camera I have now landed on a new camera the OM Systems (formerly Olympus) OM-5 a small micro four-thirds sensor camera. The Sony A7 full frame gear is still my workhorse for portrait work, but sometimes those big cameras are too much to carry for daily fun and adventure. This beautiful contrasty black and white of my very suspicious dog is strait off the OM-5 (SOOC), no editing. To illustrate the carry size difference of the new OM-5 (left) is next to Kuz Photo’s Sony A7 (right). Both have the similar focal length lens, the OM System 12-45mm is the equivalent of a 24-90mm on the Sony full frame system.

Where Is The Studio?

Image
I often get asked, ‘Where is the Kuz Photo Studio?’ The truth is, it’s not just one place, it’s wherever you need it to be. Whether it’s a big event, a school setting, or the comfort of your own home, being portable and agile means I can be anywhere to capture the moments that matter most.
