Looking for a new social platform

In 2025, as with the start of every new year, I struggle to find where to spend my time and share my content.

Standard social media platforms feel like a void, you post something, it glances by a few eyes as it dives deep into the black hole of time only to be randomly spotted 3 weeks later as it pops up on someone's feed, late and unseen.

For the past 2 years I've hosted my own blog, it's been a fine space although complicated and temperamental, it was home and I enjoyed sharing my content for the few passerbys to enjoy.

This year looking for something different and perhaps a little less maintenance for me, I've sought out to find a new place to call home for 2025.

Current front runners are:

Flickr, an old platform but when I've trusted for years, it has its limits especially now that it's a paid service.

Foto, you new an upcoming social media platform focus primarily on photos, it feels like quite a few photographers are using it but rarely anyone outside of our community.

Blogger, created by Google, it's a very limited platform, but it's easy to use.

Substack, a seemingly easy blog service, audience reach has yet to be determined.

I'm not quite sure where my favorite photos will end up, perhaps not anywhere, I may just go back to not sharing at all, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
